Terrabound for decorative walkway at memorial garden in Maidenhead, Berkshire
Contractor: Total Protection (GB) Ltd
60m2 Terrabound Trent
Addagrip approved contractor Total Protection (GB) Ltd was appointed to install Resin Bound Gravel to a decorative walkway for the Sir Nicholas Winton Memorial Garden at Oaken Grove Park in Maidenhead, Berkshire.
The garden was built in the memory of a remarkable gentleman, Sir Nicholas Winton, who in 1939 organised the rescue of 669 Jewish children from Nazi-occupied Prague, arranging for trains to carry them to the UK.
In his memory, Sir Nicholas’ family wanted to create a space for relaxation and contemplation to reflect on his heroic life. The new garden contains an ornamental pond with a central fountain and a resin bound gravel surface overlooking the water. Railway sleepers run through the garden alongside a pathway that is marked by stones bearing quotes from Sir Nicholas that were selected by his family.
BBA Approved Terrabound resin bound porous surfacing was selected in a Trent blend to create a circular designed centre piece adjacent to the pond and wooden bridge, edged with granite sets. Smooth underfoot and low maintenance, the Terrabound surface offers a hard wearing decorative standing area. The resin bound surface was installed in May 2017 and the garden was officially opened in July by the Prime Minister and Maidenhead MP, The Rt Hon. Theresa May.
Sir Nicholas lived much of his life in Pinkneys Green until he died in 2015 at the age of 106.
