Contractor Resin Bonded Surfacing Ltd, Doncaster
Addacolor, Terrabound and Terrabase Rustic
Addagrip approved contractor Resin Bonded Surfacing Ltd was appointed to install a new resin bound surface including a logo for Heatherwood School in Doncaster.
Heatherwood is a coeducational community special day school which opened in 2008 for children and young people aged between 3 and 19 years who have severe learning difficulties and additional profound and complex physical / medical needs.
The existing outside area consisted of a range of different surfacing types including rubber crumb and block paving. The school was looking to replace these areas with one seamless resin bound system that would be comfortable underfoot, low maintenance and visually pleasing, giving better accessibility to this outside recreational area.
Terrabase Rustic was selected for the main walkway with Terrabound Trent 6mm for contrasting seating areas. A 1.2m school logo was created in the Terrabase Rustic using a template and bespoke blends of resin bound Addacolor matched to the school's colours.
To ensure that the work did not cause any inconvenience for the pupils, staff and visitors, the main work was undertaken outside of school hours. The initial preparation to regulate the existing surface levels was carried out during Spring Half Term and the installation of the resin bound surfacing was completed in the Easter holidays.
