ITV’s flagship gardening make-over programme ‘Love Your Garden', hosted by TV personality Alan Titchmarsh, has used Addaset BBA approved Resin Bound paving system to design a modern new garden for a family in Plymouth.
The first garden in the new series of ‘Love Your Garden’ has been built for an amazing gentleman, who is Britain's first triple amputee from the Afghanistan conflict who spent years serving his country and on Christmas Eve was blown up by an IED losing both his legs above the knee and his right arm above the elbow.
The Royal Marines Association approached Mark Ormrod after picking up on his story and being so inspired by his strength and determination they employed him as their Welfare and Operations Assistant. This includes aiding with organising fundraisers, approaching other veterans offering help and support and being a shoulder to lean on for existing members of the charity with any problems they are having.
Mark has also completed fundraising expeditions including running across America in 2010, cycling the coast of Britain in 2012 and this year is planning to do a charity bike ride with his 10 year old daughter in aid of a charity for a local boy (his friend's daughter), in Plymouth who has a rare form of cancer. And if that's not enough, Mark is a regular motivational speaker, sharing his story and experiences to try and inspire others like himself, that life can get better.
Alan Titchmarsh and his team have given Mark the gift of a beautiful new style garden, which will suit the needs of himself and his family and we are proud to have been able to help out.
Addagrip’s approved installer, Resin Bonded Surfacing Ltd, travelled from Yorkshire and worked all day to have their part of the job completed in time to surprise the family with their beautiful new garden, complete with children’s’ play area and seating area for entertaining family and friends.
Addaset Resin Bound surfacing in a 3mm Lucerne Silver blend was installed for the access ramp, and pathways around the house, complementing the design of the central dining area and providing a safe, non-slip surface for the pathway around the play area. The aggregates for the Addaset surfacing were kindly donated by Long Rake Spar ltd.
Commenting on Addagrip’s contribution to the project, Managing Director Roger Critchley said: “We were only too pleased to be involved with Alan and his team again to help provide a beautiful new garden space for the family. The finished garden looks great and I hope that it gives Mr and Mrs Ormrod and their family many years of enjoyment”.
We would like to thank our Doncaster based approved contractor, Dave Tweedie and his team at Resin Bonded Surfacing Ltd, for their hard work installing the surfacing and for Long Rake Spar Ltd for kindly donating the aggregates.
