Addagrip approved contractor Rockstone Surfacing Ltd was approached by Taylor Wimpey via John O’Flynn Developments Ltd to discuss resin bound surfacing options for Neighbourhood Equipped Areas for Play (NEAP) on the new Ridgeway Farm development in Swindon, Wiltshire.

The new Taylor Wimpey development will consist of 700 high quality new homes of which 30% will be affordable homes. As part of the development a NEAP close to the new school, Ridgeway Farm CE Academy, required a hard wearing, low maintenance surfacing that would be porous and comfortable underfoot for the pathways around the play equipment.

Having considered a number of options, Taylor Wimpey selected Terrabase Rustic Resin Bound surfacing not only because of the product’s decorative appearance and porosity but because this patented system does not require a concrete or asphalt base. As access to the area was limited, this meant that the product could be installed onto a compacted Type 3 without the need to hand barrow asphalt to the site.

680m2 of Terrabase Rustic Oak natural aggregate blend was installed in March 2017.
