Resin Bound Tree Pit for London Plane Tree in Central London

    Contractor Street Tree Care Ltd

Addagrip approved contractor, Street Tree Care Ltd, was appointed to install an Addastone TP tree pit system around a newly planted London Plane Tree in the Buckingham Palace Road, London.

The London plane, widely planted in London since the eighteenth century, is an ideal urban tree due to its large-growing, shade-providing nature and ability to cope well with heat and cold, wet and dry, compaction of the soil and the pollutants generated by cities.

To allow the young tree to flourish, the tree pit area was surfaced with a 6-10mm  resin bound porous system and a collar left around the trunk filled with loose aggregate for ease of growth.  A drainage grill was seated in the surfacing to assist with additional watering when required.

A hard wearing Silver Grey Granite blend was selected and installed with a metal edging to protect the tree pit area which will be subject to pedestrian use.

    Completed in April 2015.
