Resin Bound pathways for new play area at Surrey school

    Contractor: True Grip Ltd

75sqm Terrabase Rustic Oak and 18sqm Terrabound Chocolate Buff 6mm

Addagrip approved contractor True Grip Ltd has just completed an installation of Resin Bound pathways for this wonderful new play area at Sherwood Park School in Wallington.

Sherwood Park is a school for pupils aged between 3 and 19 years that have Severe, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties and some pupils who have Autistic Spectrum Disorders.  The school takes great pride in maintaining a clean, safe, well-maintained building and grounds, so when it came to creating a new outdoor play area the brief was to create an outdoor learning centre that would stimulate and meet the needs of the school’s pupils.

Main contractor Warwick Landscaping Ltd were appointed for this Design and Build scheme, working closely with Jennie Picton, designer at JP Designs to create a fun, safe, low maintenance environment.  Resin Bound surfacing was selected for the pathways to create smooth, porous surfaces that are comfortable underfoot, with good slip resistance and suitable for wheelchair access.  The chosen products are porous ensuring excellent drainage of the play areas, with no loose gravel and using natural aggregates to complement the woodland setting.

Addagrip approved contractor True Grip Ltd were invited to install 18sqm of  BBA approved Terrabound Resin Bound porous surfacing in a 6mm Chocolate Buff blend to the wheelchair ramp and a further 75sqm of Terrabase Rustic in an Oak blend to the woodland paths.

The result is a welcoming outdoor area which invites exploration and play to aid learning within a safe, visually pleasing environment.
