Addagrip, the leading resin bound and bonded surfacing manufacturer, is excited to be exhibiting at Grand Designs Live at the NEC in Birmingham (4 to 6 October) and is ready to tell visitors about how the Queen recently walked on an Addagrip surface.
The Queen recently reopened Abbotsford House, near Melrose in the Scottish borders, the former home of the novelist, playwright and poet Sir Walter Scott, after a multi-million pound restoration.
As part of the lottery-funded restoration works, Addagrip approved contractor, The Fraser Bruce Group, carried out the installation of 6mm Rhine Gold Terrabound Resin Bound Surfacing at a depth of 18mm to the courtyard and garden pathways totalling 850m2.
“Throughout the project, it was essential that the aesthetics of the system were not compromised and that joints were kept to a minimum,” says Roger Critchley, Managing Director of Addagrip. “This was achieved, despite battling with poor weather conditions throughout the period.”
Terrabound is one of the products which Addagrip will be highlighting at Grand Designs Live. Available in a select range of natural aggregates, Terrabound provides a seamless, porous, hard wearing , low maintenance decorative surface ideal for commercial projects, including landscaping schemes, housing developments, parks, car parks and access roads and driveways.
In addition to Abbotsford House, Terrabound (in Rhine Gold and Chocolate Buff) was recently used on a driveway project in Bexhill, East Sussex (installed by Addagrip’s approved contractor, Design-a-Drive). The residents in the cul-de-sac were unhappy about the existing tar and chip surface – as loose gravel was finding its way into their homes and cars, so resin bound Terrabound was the ideal surfacing option.
Addagrip will also be featuring Addabound at this year’s exhibition. Addabound resin bound surfacing has been developed to fulfil customer demand to include a minimum of 25% recycled content of aggregate and filler. The new range of decorative porous surfacing incorporates Addagrip’s latest UV stable resin technology, offering increased renewable resin content, strength and improved surface flexibility. Addabound is suitable for car parks, access roads, driveways, footpaths, cycle paths, heritage schemes, pedestrian precincts, educational facilities, footbridges, housing/ commercial developments and landscaping schemes.
A 3mm Addabound path in Natural Beach with an Addacolor sun logo (in Addacolor 3mm Yellow) was recently installed for an episode of ‘Love Your Garden’ with Alan Titchmarsh. Alan and his team created a garden which included a resin bound path which was supplied by Addagrip and installed by one of the company’s approved contractors, Orchid Flooring.
The Addacolor Resin Bound Surfacing System – which was used in the garden to pick out a burst of sunshine - is ideally suited to those projects that require a splash of colour, such as footpaths and school playgrounds.
“We are delighted to be exhibiting at Grand Designs Live once again and are looking forward to sharing our latest products and our latest projects with our visitors,” says Roger Critchley. “The past year has seen us working on some varied and exciting projects – which highlights the flexibility of our products.”
