    Welcome to 2013!

Firstly, I’d like to wish all our Addagrip contractors, customers and staff a very Happy New Year.

Last year started off slowly due to the good old British weather but eventually proved to be a very busy 12 months for us and our network of contractors. Our dedicated team at Addagrip works closely with our contractors who play a pivotal role in our continued growth and development. Their workmanship and attention to detail help provide the high quality finish that we strive to achieve.

It's been a pleasure to have been involved in so many fantastic projects both in the UK and overseas during 2013 - which included two appearances on the television show ‘Love Your Garden’ with Alan Titchmarsh.

The resin bound market has been growing and ever increasing competition proves a challenge. However, we continue to build on our experience and will not compromise on the quality of either the product or the service we provide as market leaders.

Thank you for reading our monthly newsletters and we look forward to an exciting 2014.

    Making the grade at Durham

Addagrip approved contractor Resin Bonded Surfacing recently installed 2350sqm of Addagrip Resin Bonded Addastone, using a 2-5mm Rhine Gold, to the car park and access road area at St Mary’s College, Durham University.

Prior to installation, the existing car park had to be regulated with resin and kiln dried sand and flooded with water to identify and eradicate areas of pooling. Higher areas of the tarmac had to be scabbled to provide a level surface to receive the resin bonded system.

Additional challenges included the poor weather, which delayed the start date, working around the existing old sandstone sets in the car park and the need to keep noise to a minimum while exams were taking place. This meant the generator had to be set up 50m away from the application area.

Despite these challenges, the end of term deadline was achieved - even if it did mean working a 20 hour final day to complete the project. The end result is an attractive, hard wearing, low maintenance surface.

    Creating a splash

Addagrip approved contractor, Total Protection (GB) Ltd, has installed 2127sqm of Addagrip Resin Bonded Addastone to match existing surfaced areas at the Lee Valley White Water Centre, a London 2012 Olympic venue which opened to the public in September 2012.

As the areas to be surfaced would be subjected to heavy vehicle use, Total Protection recommended using an aggregate with a higher PSV value to improve lifespan and a 1-3mm Brittany Bronze was selected.

Due to the nature of the contract, the deadlines for scheduling of work and ordering of materials were tight and the weather presented its usual challenges.

Despite this, work was completed to schedule in November 2013 and the client was pleased with the result, advising the work was carried out ‘in a sound and professional manner, which exceeded expectations in quality, health and safety and environmental management terms’.

    Walsall is a winner

Congratulations again to our approved contractor, Midland Decorative Surfaces, for being mentioned in the recent BALI awards.

Midland Decorate Surfaces was listed as a supplier for the Walsall Arboretum project in the West Midlands (which won the Restoration & Regeneration Scheme award). Addagrip Resin Bonded Addastone in a 2-5mm Brittany Bronze was used for the pathways.
