The Addastone Plus Resin Bonded Surfacing System is a scatter system that provides an attractive, hard wearing and low maintenance surface by bonding or fixing loose gravel aggregates to concrete, asphalt, wood or metal.

The product offers the look of loose gravel without the issue of migrating stone and is available in a selection of natural aggregates.

The application process differs from a hand screeded, resin bound installation. A layer of resin applied to a suitable surface laid to falls and covered with loose aggregate. Once cured, the remaining loose stones are swept away to provide a bonded paving that resembles the . Thickness is governed by aggregate size. i.e. 1-3mm aggregate will have a nominal depth of 4mm.

Unlike resin bound paving, Addastone Plus resin bonded surfacing is non porous. However, it is not completely impermeable so would still require an additional waterproofing membrane for use on podium decks and terraces.

Addastone Plus is suitable for commercial and domestic use on car parks and access roads, driveways, pathways, courtyards, patios, with a life span of up to 5-15 years depending on use. Hard wearing, low maintenance, good slip resistance, decorative and a natural looking alternative to loose aggregate without the maintenance issues.

A wide range of natural and recycled aggregates are available, making it ideal for heritage sites, landscaping schemes, public parks, universities and visitor attractions. A decorative surfacing alternative to block paving, tarmac, and concrete finishes.

Resin bonded gravel surfaces are very resilient. However, life spans will depend on usage and choices of aggregate. Typical examples of expected lifespan are as follows:

  • Footpaths using a 1-3mm Autumn Quartz: 8-15 Years
  • Domestic Drive using a 1-3mm Chinese Bauxite: 8-15 Years
  • Car Parks using a 1-3mm Guyanan Bauxite: 5-10 Years
  • Roads using 1-3mm Chinese Bauxite 5- 8 Years

Application

The improved Addastone Plus installation process replaces the need for a sealer with a process of Vacuum Assisted Captive Shot Blasting of the asphalt surface to remove dirt and residue.  This enhanced preparation method ensures a good key for the resin bonded system and reduces installation time on site.

Decorative natural aggregate appearance - gives a loose gravel look without the maintenance issues of migrating stone.

Durable

Hard wearing and resilient using a range of selected suitable aggregates.

Low Maintenance

Occasional sweeping recommended to remove any shedding stone and occasional power wash to keep clean.

Slip Resisitant

Textured aggregate finish provides excellent slip resistance.

Fast Application

Suitable for asphalt, concrete, timber and steel surfaces - Now with improved application process!

Fixed stone

Does not migrate or wash away

This system is best for:

Car parks and Access Roads

Decorative alternative to asphalt. We recommend using harder wearing bauxites or granites for longer lifespan

Pathways

Creating natural looking alternative to loose gravel paths.

Driveways

Offering a more traditional look of loose gravel without the additional maintenance required with loose gravel.

Balconies

For a thin and lightweight surface application with good slip resistance.

Podium decks and Roof Terraces

Where weight is an issue. Please note, whilst this product is not porous, it is not impermeable so additional waterproofing layer is required for roof terraces.

Bridges and Ramps

Providing a slip resistant surface for concrete and steel ramps and bridges.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s The Difference Between Resin Bound And Resin Bonded?

There are two different systems that use resin to fix gravel aggregates to create decorative surfacing. These are Resin Bound porous paving and Resin Bonded paving and whilst similar in name they have different properties, application methods and aesthetics. Resin bound surfacing consists of aggregate mixed with resin in specific blends using specific aggregate to resin ratios. The material is trowelled down to a smooth finish similar to a screed (with no loose stones). Depths are specified depending on aggregate size, normally 12mm, 16mm, 18mm or 24mm. Resin bonded surfacing is a scatter system which provides texture and the appearance of loose gravel. A layer of resin is applied to a suitable surface laid to falls and covered with loose aggregate. Once cured the remaining loose stones are removed. Thickness is governed by aggregate size. i.e. 1-3mm aggregate will have a nominal depth of 4mm.

Are our resin surfacing systems solvent free?

Addagrip’s Resin Bound and Resin Bonded external surfacing systems do not contain non-aqueous/non-polar solvents as part of the product formulation, ensuring that they are solvent free. Please note: small quantities of a proprietary solvent mix are offered to contractors to aid in the cleaning of tools and equipment. As this solvent mix will damage the resin surfacing, it is always recommended that tool cleaning is carried out infrequently (i.e. only at the end of application sessions), and in a well ventilated area a suitable distance away from any freshly-laid material.

Is Resin Bonded Surfacing Suitable For Driveways

Resin Bonded Addastone Plus is suitable for driveways offering a textured appearance that replicates the look of loose gravel.

What Does Resin Bonded Surfacing Cost?

Cost depends on sqm area, site specifics such as base requirements, edging and design specification. Contact us to request a quote.

What’s The Lifespan Of Resin Bonded Surfacing?

Resin bonded gravel surfaces are very resilient. However, life spans will depend on usage and choices of aggregate. Typical examples of expected life are as follows:
  • Footpaths using a 2-5mm Brittany Bronze: 8-15 Years
  • Domestic Drive using a 1-3mm Chinese Bauxite: 8-15 Years
  • Car Parks using a 1-3mm Guyanan Bauxite: 5-10 Years
  • Roads using 1-3mm Chinese Bauxite 5- 8 Years
