Resin Flooring

Some very good reasons for choosing Addaflor Resin Flooring:
• Strength
• Abrasion Resistance
• Impact Resistance
• Hygiene
• Low Maintenance
• Chemical Resistance
• Attractive
• Safe
• Anti Slip
• Flexible
Resin flooring provides a tough, chemical resistant floor finish. The chemical interaction between the two component parts creates a surface that can be stronger than concrete itself because of the way resin combines with and is absorbed by the concrete, chemically fixing the surface and forming a continuous layer (providing the concrete is correctly prepared and primed).
Strength
Resin has the advantage of being extremely tough as well as having a degree of flexibility under stress; this property gives it durability under impact and thermal shock. Resin also has a compressive strength that is far greater than concrete, it will dissipate loading and can increase the weight bearing limit of the base concrete.
Hygiene and Maintenance
Seamless resin floors provide an impervious barrier and enable floors to be easily and effectively cleaned, its properties ensure it should not taint and can be pressure washed (check product specifications) Resin is also resistant to most cleaning products.
Chemical Resistance
Resin Systems are resistant to a variety of chemicals including acids, alkalis, solvents, oils and petrol. When applied as a seamless floor they prevent damage to the concrete beneath. Some resins are formulated to provide specific chemical resistance for specialist applications.
Attractive and safe
A huge range of finishes are possible using resin based systems from colour choice to the addition of coloured quartz, and decorative flake systems including natural and dyed aggregates. An anti slip surface can be achieved by adding graded aggregates within the base layer, different properties can be produced by the size and or coverage rates ensuring the best choice for wet or greasy floors can be achieved.
Why specify a resin flooring system
The benefits of resin systems are numerous, however an important consideration should also be risk damage or wear to unprotected concrete floors these can be anything from marks and impact damage to chemical damage to the structure of the material.
It is worth noting that such damage may not only be unsightly or inconvenient but may also constitute a structural or Health and Safety issue.
Resins can protect, prolong life expectancy and prevent these potential problems.
In principle the choice can be selected as follows:
Floor Coatings and Seals
Low cost yet durable and hard wearing floor treatment.
Light to medium duty with mild exposure to chemicals.
Easy to clean and reduces dust.
These systems can be used to produce decorative flooring systems for residential as well as commercial applications.
Medium Duty - (Industrial)
Usually laid to a thickness of 2mm - 4mm
May incorporate the following properties;
Good Chemical resistance
Anti Slip
Hygiene - food production - easy to clean
Decorative and demarcation colours
Heavy Duty - (Industrial)
Thicker Application Usually 6mm - 9mm
May also incorporate properties of the medium system however will withstand tougher environments and use.
Flexibility
The properties of resins make them suitable for application to a range of surfaces including;
• Concrete
• Asphalt
• Wood
• Metals.
(Formulations may be specific so always check suitability prior to application)
